What is aesthetics?

  • The definition of aesthetics can be understood through this video:

  • As you heard, there are several component to aesthetics and several questions that need to be asked when looking at a creation. 
The assignment...
  • After learning what aesthetics is, your assignment will be answering two sets of questions to further understand what aesthetics mean in the world of art. For the second set of questions, you will choose a Kandinsky to use as your reference for the questions.

The questions that will need to be answered for this assignment are as follows:

                Part one questions:

    1. How would you define fine art? Commercial art? Or just a created work?
    2. Does art matter to you? Why or why not?
    3. Do you think that for something to be art, it must have an element of beauty?
    4. Do you think that aesthetics beauty changes culture to culture? Why or why not?
    5. Do you think naturally found objects, such as a stone, sunset, or flower, can be considered art? why or why not?
    6. How much do you think someone's individual eye and experience effect someone's aesthetic experience?
